Blog#5: Fathers’ Attachment

Published by mgalloway3513 at 1:23 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

While I was reading about fathers and attachment I learned that substance abuse and depression have been found to be related more to fathers’ than to mothers’ behavior. I found this really interesting because I don’t see how that can be. I could understand if mothers would rely on drugs or fall into depression from stress or being too overwhelmed because mothers play a more active role in child-rearing than fathers. My view is obstructed by the fact that I’m not a mother, but I suppose mothers have a natural instinct that does not allow them to panic in certain situations. They know what to do more often times then fathers and this might bring on drug abuse or depression in fathers, they lack that natural instinct that mothers have.
